The Bean Gets Roasted
You may have seen that we posted a video this week sharing the news that Chicago is no longer the only city with a giant bean sculpture. Yes, it's true. New York City just recently unveiled a bean of their own in Tribecca. And while it may not be as big as ours in Chicago, it still looks quite similar. And that's because it is. The famous British artist who designed Chicago's iconic Cloud Gate, also created this structure that strongly resembles the Bean.
While we wouldn't call ourselves designers or artists by any means, we can't help but wonder why this giant piece of art was slotted below a luxury condominium building. Part of the appeal of The Bean in Chicago is the ability to walk underneath it, enjoy the city in the background and circle the structure with 360-degree access. It seems somewhat questionable to spend nearly $10 million on a piece of art that looks like it is being squished by the skyscraper that towers above it.
But who are we to judge? If NYC wants to be like Chicago that badly, be our guest. We won't say more. However, we can't say the same for our followers. Not going to lie, you all had a field day in the comments of our IG post. And it wasn't like five or 10 comments, there are hundreds and there's a chance that we may get up to 1,000. To save you some scrolling, we picked out some of the most-liked comments for you to enjoy below:
