Tour Announcements: Two huge Chicago concert stops were announced this week. Yesterday, Lady Gaga announced The Mayhem Ball World Tour, and Chicago was one of the selected cities with a tour stop. The Chicago concerts will take place at the United Center on Sept. 15 and 17. Additionally, the Jonas Brothers announced Jonas 20: Living the Dream Tour that will celebrate 20 years of music. Their Chicago concert will take place on Aug. 26 at Wrigley Field and will include special guests Marshmello and Boys Like Girls.
MLB Opening Day: It’s Opening Day for Major League Baseball! The Chicago White Sox are in town hosting the Los Angeles Angels at Guaranteed Rate Field today at 3:10 p.m. (tickets). The Chicago Cubs are in Phoenix to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a game that begins at 9:10 p.m. The Cubs have actually already played two games this season (lost both) as they had an early series in Japan against the Dodgers. Here’s what to know about each Chicago team.
City Stickers: If you have slacked on getting your vehicle City Sticker, you’re in luck. The City of Chicago has announced that you will be able to get your City Sticker penalty free thanks to “City Sticker Amnesty Month.” During the entire month of April, anyone who buys a City Sticker from the City Clerk will not have to pay late fees and back charges. As a reminder, City Stickers are required for all vehicles that are registered with a Chicago address.
Restaurant Reopenings: Two popular Chicago restaurants are making a comeback. Former Bucktown Mexican restaurant Taqueria Chingon, that closed in November, will be making a comeback much sooner than expected, but this time it will be in Fulton Market. Additionally, Uptown’s BadaBing Wings reopened after closing last June when its owner Jose Lopez sadly passed away at just 42 years old. Jose’s friend Ani is now trying to honor his legacy by reopening the chicken wing restaurant.
Chicago Tomato Man: Bob Zeni from LaGrange Park aims to sell 15,000 heirloom tomato plants through his annual sale this year. The Chicago Tomato Man wants to rid the world of “tasteless” store-bought tomatoes and allow more Chicagoans to enjoy fresh tomatoes from plants right in their homes, which is much easier with an affordable tomato plant starter. You can place orders online, and he is even doing pop-ups, including city locations, to pickup the plants.
