  • Carnivore Carnival: On Saturday, July 27 from noon until 11pm, Hideaway Brew Garden (near NOW Arena) in Hoffman Estates is putting on an epic $15 Carnivore Carnival one-day event.

  • The full-day party is going to have meat, music and mayhem with award-winning BBQ, four live bands, margaritas and sideshow performances from some of the world’s most interesting entertainers.

  • The live music schedule will be as follows: 12pm: Red’s Hot Chili Peppers, 3:30pm: Poison’d Crue, 6:30pm: Hi Infidelity, 9:30pm: Rod Tuffcurls and The Bench Press.

  • Brookfield Zoo: Massive news out of Brookfield Zoo this week as they just announced a $500 million redevelopment plan that will entirely reshape the zoo. The plan focuses on bringing animals together that live in harmony in the wild. They are moving away from individual exhibits and towards new habitats based on geographic regions. See renderings.

  • Wrigley Rooftops: In more construction news, City Council announced yesterday that they have approved the rezoning and teardown of three iconic Wrigley Field rooftop buildings on Sheffield Avenue despite the neighborhood group’s best efforts. In its place will be one 29-unit apartment building standing five stories tall with pickleball courts on the rooftop. Read the full story.

  • Millennium Park: Happy Birthday, Millennium Park! The city of Chicago has planned a full itinerary of events for Millennium Park’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, which will take place starting today and run through Sunday (July 18-21). The four-day celebration is free to attend and is headlined by Grammy-winning artist Common.

  • Food Festivals: If you are looking to explore a fun food-focused festival this weekend, you’re in luck! The following three fests will be taking place Friday-Sunday this weekend: Taste of River North, Tacos Y Tamales Festival and Roscoe Village Burger Fest.

  • Driving in Chicago: A new proposed ordinance from a Chicago alderman this week is aiming to drop the city’s default speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph. Additionally, the end of free parking in West Loop is near as hundreds of parking meters are being installed after years of delays.
