Chicago News
The Yard at Wrigley: The Chicago Cubs just unveiled a brand new section of Wrigley Field yesterday as they will be introducing “The Yard” for this upcoming season. The Yard will be a private, outdoor space for small groups right below the center field bleachers. It will include high-top seating, unlimited beer, seltzers, wine, N/A beverages and a meal per guest. It’s designed for smaller groups looking for a space that feels like “their own backyard” the team said. Tickets will need to be bought in minimum of fours and will cost between $175-$390 per person.
NASCAR Chicago: NASCAR’s Chicago Street Race series will once again be returning to Chicago this summer on July 5-6. Two big updates for this year focus on slashing setup time and prices. First, they will reduce their setup time by over a week, which will allow Chicagoans more time to enjoy the parks in the summer. Second, they are slashing ticket prices and letting kids in for free. They are trying to get more Chicago families to attend this year.
Milk Bar: We finally have an opening date on the long-awaited Milk Bar Chicago location. ICYMI, Milk Bar is a famous bakery chain that was started 17 years ago by Christina Tosi in New York City. Their first Chicago location is set to open on Feb. 8 inside the Hoxton Chicago hotel lobby and will have many of their iconic desserts plus new, exclusive Chicago items like a Portillo’s Chocolate Cake Cookie and a Hot Dog Bomb (a Chicago-style bagel dog). Get all the details.
MSI Grant: The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry announced yesterday that they have received a $10 million grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation that will allow them to bring the South Portico to life. The South Portico is the museum’s original, and architecturally beautiful, entrance from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. You will want to take a look at these renderings as the future museum entrance looks amazing.
Shedd Free Days: Sticking with Chicago museums, The Shedd Aquarium will have 12 Illinois Resident Free Days during February: 4-6, 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27. After February, there aren’t any additional free days listed on the calendar for 2025 at this time. However, there are a handful of free evenings in March, April and May, but entry for those doesn’t begin until after 5 p.m. If your schedule allows, take advantage of these upcoming free days while you can.
