Foxtrot & Dom’s: By now you’ve probably heard the sad news that all Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market locations abruptly closed for good this week as their parent company files for bankruptcy. A class-action lawsuit has been filed because of how it all went down, and a Gold Coast cafe is giving away free Dark Matter Coffee every day for the rest of the month to help Chicagoans deal with the loss.
Bears Stadium: The Chicago Bears unveiled renderings yesterday for their proposed new lakefront, domed stadium in Chicago. People have seemingly been impressed by the designs, which add 14 acres of new recreation and park space. It’s expected to cost more than $3 billion, and they will be asking the public to contribute about $900 million towards it. See the full plan and watch the hype video here.
Chicago Rat Hole: The infamous Chicago Rat Hole is now a part of the city’s history as it has been removed, but preserved, by the city. It was seen being dug up from the sidewalk by a crew in Roscoe Village yesterday morning. It’s not yet known where it has been taken, but you will want to see how they did it.
Cherry Blossoms: For the second year in a row, the Jackson Park Cherry Blossom tree buds will not fully bloom due to Chicago’s erratic fluctuation in weather and temperature this spring. You can read the Chicago Park District’s statement on the situation and learn what their plan is to help with this issue in the future.
Castaways: Chicago’s iconic Castaways beach bar is about to look a whole lot different for summer 2024. The boat-shaped structure that anchors North Avenue Beach is being renamed Castaways Beach Club and will have a “reimagined” look. The new “modern beach club” will have elevated food and a club on one end.

Umbrella Sky: One of the coolest art installations in the world has returned to the Chicagoland area as the Umbrella Sky Project just re-opened in Elmhurst. It’s the perfect thing to take kids to this spring. Their opening party is Saturday, April 27 and it’s open to the public.
Sushi Giveaway: We have teamed up with YuGo Sushi, a new Asian Fusion restaurant, to give away five of their beautiful sushi sets! Our Instagram giveaway closes tomorrow, so make sure to enter today!
Concerts: This week was full of tour announcements and Chicago made the list for multiple including Imagine Dragons, Pitbull and Kygo.
