Beaches Open: Chicago’s 26 beaches along Lake Michigan will officially open for the season tomorrow, May 24. Lifeguards will be on duty each day from 11am to 7pm through Labor Day. Check out the full list of Chicago beaches, beach rules and more. In other beach news, the newly reimagined Castaways Beach Club also officially opens tomorrow on North Avenue Beach after being closed for all of last year.
Summer Fireworks: The iconic summer fireworks at Navy Pier are set to kick off this weekend with their first display of the year on Saturday at 10pm. Fireworks will now take place on both Wednesdays (9pm) and Saturdays (10pm) each week moving forward through Labor Day weekend. We posted a video with the full schedule of days in the caption.
Memorial Day Parade: Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade, honoring all the men and women who have served our country, will take place on Saturday, May 25 beginning at noon. Prior to the parade stepping off, there will also be a Wreath Laying Ceremony beginning at Daley Plaza at 11am. See the full details.

Chicago Festivals
Sueños: The El Festival Latino Sueños is a massive celebration of Latin music, food and culture that will take place in Grant Park on May 25 & 26. There will be 25+ Latin and Reggaeton artists performing (full set list by hour). Festival passes are currently sold out, but you can still join the waitlist if more come available. There are also 13 official afterparties with musical performances taking place this weekend if you want to celebrate without going to the festival.
Street Festivals: If you are looking to attend a festival this weekend, but won’t be attending Sueños, there are a lot of others to choose from! Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest is happening all weekend in the heart of Lakeview, Mayfestiversary is Saturday and Sunday at Begyle Brewing and Dovetail Brewery in Ravenswood, Mole de Mayo will be taking place all weekend in Pilsen, Randolph Street Market Festival is in West Loop on Saturday and Sunday and WingOut Chicago is going down on Saturday and Sunday as well in Wrigleyville.

White Sox: The Chicago White Sox begin a seven-game homestand tonight if you are looking to catch a baseball game this holiday weekend. They have night games Thursday/Friday and then day games Saturday/Sunday (schedule). There will be special promos for the games including discounted tickets, Caleb Williams throwing out the first pitch, a fireworks show, Reggaeton Night, free bobbleheads and a chance for kids to run the bases after the game.
Cycling: How about a bike ride this weekend? According to a recent study, “Cycling has been growing faster in Chicago than in any other major city in America” says the Chicago Sun-Times. Is Chicago becoming a city for cyclists? Read their story to find out.
