  • Chicago White Sox: If you feel like the Chicago White Sox have been having a bad year, you’d be correct. The Chicago White Sox look to avoid the wrong side of history today during their last home game (1:10pm) of the 2024 MLB season. As you may have heard, the Chicago White Sox currently have 120 losses this year. One more (121) would be the most for a single season in baseball history. In an effort to show their appreciation to the fans, the White Sox are offering $10 tickets, $10 parking and a bunch of $5 concessions for the game. Read through the comments on our post.

  • Amtrak: You may have heard the big news from Amtrak this week as they have announced the launch of the Floridian, a new rail service that connects Chicago to Miami. The new route combines “two iconic routes - the Capitol Limited and Silver Star.” It’s inaugural trip will take place on November 10. The one way trip from Chicago to Miami will take 48 hours to complete. Will anyone do it?!

  • Field Museum: The Field Museum has announced that tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 27) will now be free admission for all Illinois residents as part of a celebration of a new fossil. The museum is welcoming the Chicago Archaeopteryx, the earliest known bird, to its new permanent home and will have different festivities to celebrate the occasion. If you are a fan of Jurassic birds, get excited! Reserve free tickets.

  • Chicago Bulls: Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose just announced today that he is officially retiring from basketball. Rose was the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and became the youngest MVP in NBA history in 2011 with the Bulls. Check out his announcement post. Speaking of Chicago Bulls legends, it appears that Michael Jordan’s Highland Park mansion finally has a buyer after 12 years and a massive price cut. Tour the house.

  • Christkindlmarket: The 2024 Christkindlmarket souvenir mugs, stein and ornament were just released this morning! This year’s mug designs include the return of the iconic boot mug, a nutcracker and more. Check out the complete collection from their announcement post for this year’s holiday season in Chicago.

  • Cool Neighborhoods: TimeOut just shared their 38 coolest neighborhoods in the world list and one from Chicago made the cut. These neighborhoods “reflect the very best of their cities - its culture, community spirit, nightlife, food and drink.” Think you know which one it is? See which Chicago neighborhood came in at number 34 on the list.

  • CurderBurger: On Tuesday, Oct. 1, Culver’s is bringing back its famous “CurderBurger” for just two weeks. They describe it as “a deluxe ButterBurger topped with fried cheese curds and breadcrumbs.” Fun fact, the burger originated from an April Fools joke that went viral.

  • Weird Al: Now here is a blast from the past, musician Weird Al Yankovic, known for his musical parodies, just announced he will be doing a huge tour around the country in 2025 called “Bigger & Weirder.” There will be one stop in the Chicagoland area on June 29.
