Chicago News of the Week
Summer 2023 Lineup: It's time to start your summer planning! The city has announced its 2023 summer lineup of festivals and events! Take a look at the full list of things to get added to your calendar for this summer!
Taste of Chicago: One noticeable omission from the summer lineup this year is the Taste of Chicago as it has been a hot topic of conversation in recent weeks amongst city officials. It had been left off Grant Park's list of summer festivals and was almost moved to Navy Pier. However, it was announced this week that it's remaining in Grant Park but will be pushed back to September.
Guiness Brewery Update: In honor of St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, we wanted to follow up from our bullet last week to say that Guiness has now announced that they are planning on opening their Fulton Market brewery this July! We got a sneak preview at City Hall last week and it looks like it will be great! Watch this video to learn more!
Funkenhausen: The German x Southern fusion restaurant Funkenhausen in West Town has announced that they will be closing their doors after five years. This month is your last chance to dine there as they will close at the end of the month. We really enjoyed it when we visited and recommend going before it closes!
More Restaurant Closings: In other restaurant news, the spy-themed bar and restaurant SafeHouse Chicago in River North closed abruptly early last week. Additionally, Black Dog Gelato just announced that they are permanently closing two out of three of their gelato shops (West Loop and Logan Square). The Ukranian Village location will reopen for the season in May. Take a minute to read owner Jessie's heartfelt message.
