Science & Industry: On Sunday, the Museum of Science & Industry will be renamed the Griffin Museum of Science & Industry after a $125 million naming gift from Citadel founder, and former Chicago resident, Ken Griffin. There will be a museum rebranding, new experiences, a free museum entry day this Sunday, May 19 and more. Learn about all the changes and see what people are saying about it.
Clark Street Dining: After continued negotiations, it now appears that the Clark Street outdoor dining program will return this summer… sort of. The Chicago Department of Transportation issued a permit yesterday that will allow curb lane closures for outdoor dining on Clark Street, but the road will remain open to vehicle traffic.
Chicago Bears: The Chicago Bears 2024 season schedule was released yesterday. Their first game of the regular season is Sept. 8 at home against the Tennessee Titans. The schedule currently includes five nationally-televised games, with one of those in London. The team shared a fun schedule release video narrated by Chicago’s own Jake Johnson (Nick Miller from New Girl).
Wrigley Field Football: In other football news, you may recall that Northwestern knocked down its football stadium in Evanston. While their new one is being built, they will be playing their home games at two locations this upcoming season: a temporary field in Evanston and Wrigley Field. The Wrigley Field games will be their last two of the season against Illinois and Ohio State.
Wayfair in Wilmette: The online furniture retailer Wayfair is opening its first-ever brick-and-mortar store next week, and they chose Wilmette, IL (30 minutes outside Chicago) as the location. The grand opening will take place at 10am next Thursday, May 23. You can take a sneak peak at what the store looks like ahead of its opening.
