Let's Complain: So what's going on in this graph you ask? It shows how the fan bases of different MLB teams feel about this year's new rule changes. The biggest rule change was the addition of a pitch clock. The pitch clock forces the pitcher and batter to be ready to go within 15 seconds after each pitch or 20 seconds if a runner is on base.

The reason this rule was implemented was to speed up baseball games. Many fans were becoming disinterested in baseball, partially because games were too long. For example, the average game length last year was just over three hours. So is it working? The short answer is yes as the average game time is around 30 minutes shorter than last year.

Are fans happy with the results of the changes? That is where the above graph comes in. What is super interesting for Chicagoans is that Cubs fans hate the rule changes more than any other fan base in MLB. Complaints from just Cubs fans have made up 13% of total complaints overall. On the opposite end, White Sox fans like the changes more than any other fan base. So why is this the case?

What people are pointing to is that baseball games at Wrigley Field are an experience unlike any other in baseball. Yes, people do go there to watch the game, but they may go there just as much to have fun, eat, drink and hangout.

Cubs fans want the games to be longer so that they can fully enjoy the experience. If the game is shorter, there is less time to grab another beer and hangout in the bleachers. On the other side of things, people are saying that White Sox fans have so much to complain about already that these new rules weren't their top priority lol.

Curious what seats are the worst at both Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate? You can see for yourself here!
