Summer Patio Launch Party at Tune-Up This Weekend

  • Tune-Up’s Patio Party: Tune-Up is kicking off its first-ever patio season this weekend with a two-day Summer Patio Launch Party. The Avondale bar is housed inside a former auto shop at the intersection of Belmont and Milwaukee and features a retro-inspired design and large outdoor patio.

  • The bar's 1,200-square-foot patio is officially open for the summer and features DJs, food trucks, frozen cocktails, picnic table seating, string lights and a dedicated outdoor pickup window. The launch also marks the start of new summer weekend hours, with Tune-Up now opening at noon on Saturdays and Sundays all season long.

  • Food from Natties & Patties will be available Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. alongside music from DJ Papa G, while Sunday's lineup features Mister Brisket from 1 to 6 p.m. and music from DJ Esteban. To celebrate patio season, Tune-Up is introducing the new Frozen Patio Paloma for $11, with the option to "Tune It Up" with a $2 Ghost Habanero Tequila floater.

  • World Cup: The 2026 FIFA World Cup officially kicks off today and will run through July 19. While this is the 23rd edition of the tournament, it marks the first time the field has expanded to 48 teams. It's also the first World Cup to be hosted by three countries: the United States, Mexico and Canada. The tournament begins at 2 p.m. today as Mexico takes on South Africa (Chicago viewing parties), while the U.S. plays its first match tomorrow at 8 p.m. While Chicago isn’t hosting any matches, there will be plenty of watch parties and specials. Plus, wear a soccer jersey to Chipotle today and get a BOGO entrée from 3 p.m. to close.

  • The Carlyle Club: The Chicago River is getting another new restaurant this summer as the space formerly occupied by The Kitchen American Bistro prepares for a new chapter. Opening this August at 316 N. Clark St., The Carlyle Club will bring a 72-seat riverfront patio, skyline views and a menu featuring American classics alongside sushi and seafood. Nearly every seat inside the restaurant will offer a view of the Chicago River.

  • Au Cheval: Tired of waiting hours for a table at Au Cheval? After 14 years without reservations, the West Loop restaurant, known for serving one of the country's most acclaimed burgers, has finally begun accepting them. Reservations cost $2.50 per person and are not applied toward your dining bill.

  • Anne Frank Exhibit: In honor of Anne Frank's legacy, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry will offer free admission to Anne Frank The Exhibition on June 12–14. The exhibit is typically a separately ticketed experience, making this a rare chance to visit at no additional cost. Capacity is limited and advance registration is encouraged. Visitors will also receive free general museum admission on June 12, while regular museum admission is required on June 13 and 14.

  • Tuesdays on the Terrace: Free live music returns to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) next week as Tuesdays on the Terrace kicks off its 2026 season. The series runs June 16 through Aug. 25 and features performances from Chicago artists spanning jazz, soul, R&B, Latin and Caribbean sounds in the museum's Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden.

  • Red Bull Spin Off: A brand-new event is making its U.S. debut in Chicago this weekend as Red Bull Spin Off takes over 12th Street Beach near the Adler Planetarium. Starting at 10 a.m. this Saturday, June 13, teams will race homemade tandem bicycles across floating tracks on the water, with competitors judged on speed, bike design and showmanship.

  • Dinopalooza: Dinosaur lovers of all ages can head to the Field Museum this Saturday for the return of Dinopalooza. Taking place June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event is included with museum admission and features hands-on activities, scavenger hunts, paleo-art, research lectures and the crowd-favorite Dino Derby, where participants race inflatable dinosaur costumes for prizes.

  • Dine Out on Broadway: Back by popular demand, Dine Out on Broadway returns to Lake View East for its sixth season this weekend. Running June 12–14, the event closes a stretch of Broadway to traffic, allowing 20 local restaurants to expand onto the street with outdoor dining, drinks and a lively patio atmosphere. The event returns for two more weekends in July and August.

  • Strawberry Festival: Windy Acres Farm in Geneva, Illinois is hosting its annual Strawberry Festival this weekend. Running June 12–14, the event features homemade strawberry shortcake, strawberry slushies, strawberry donuts, fresh-picked strawberries and more, along with dozens of farm attractions and activities for all ages.

  • Boat & Yacht Show: The inaugural Windy City Boat & Yacht Show drops anchor at Burnham Harbor this weekend, running June 12–14. The show features more than 100 vessels, including luxury yachts, sailboats and powerboats, along with test drives, sailing sessions, live music, food vendors and family-friendly activities. One-day tickets are $20, while two-day passes cost $35.

Weekend Plans

  • Wells Street Art Festival: More than 120 artists, live music and festival food will take over Wells Street in Old Town this weekend as the 51st Wells Street Art Festival returns to the neighborhood. The longtime tradition runs June 13–14 between North Avenue and Division Street and features artwork across a variety of mediums, live entertainment and activities for all ages.

  • Old Town Art Fair: If one art festival in Old Town isn't enough, a second will take place this weekend as the Old Town Art Fair returns to the historic Old Town Triangle neighborhood. The annual event begins at 10 a.m. on both June 13 and 14 and features more than 200 nationally acclaimed artists, a Garden Walk, live music, food vendors and a Children's Corner.

  • Puerto Rican Fest: One of Chicago's largest cultural celebrations kicks off today as the 45th annual Puerto Rican Fest returns to Humboldt Park at 2800 W. Division St. Running June 11–14, the festival features live music, carnival rides and games, traditional food and drinks, cultural performances, a mercado, arts programming and more. The celebration also includes the 47th annual Puerto Rican People's Parade, which takes place Saturday at noon.

  • Midsommarfest: Swedish traditions, live music and plenty of food will take over Andersonville this weekend as the 60th annual Midsommarfest returns to Clark Street between Foster Avenue and Gregory Street. The neighborhood festival runs June 12–14 and features 22 food vendors, a family area, activities, shops, entertainment and a celebration of the community's Swedish heritage.

  • Lincoln Square Greek Fest: One of Chicago's longest-running neighborhood festivals returns this weekend as the Lincoln Square Greek Fest takes over St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Running June 12–14, the event features authentic Greek food, live music and dancing, vendors, church tours, a kid zone and a massive raffle with a $10,000 grand prize.

  • Thai Festival: Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of Thailand this weekend as the annual Thai Festival Chicago returns to 851 W. Irving Park Rd. in Buena Park. Taking place June 13–14, the free festival features more than 50 food vendors, Muay Thai boxing demonstrations, cultural performances, a Thai fashion show and arts and handicrafts from Thailand.
