Chicago Rental Market: If you feel like the Chicagoland rental market has gotten competitive, you’d be correct. A new 2024 analysis by RentCafe shows that Suburban Chicago has joined Miami as the most competitive rental market (during peak season) in the entire country this year. Downtown Chicago didn’t fare much better coming in at #5 on the list of the 20 most competitive markets.
Restaurant Openings and Closings: The Chicago restaurant scene is making a lot of noise this month with the opening and closing of restaurants. Check out this list of five new places that just opened on the North Side. On the flip side, here is a list of restaurants that have recently closed permanently.
Chicago Music News: The headliners for Windy City Smokeout 2025 were just released yesterday. The four-day country music festival will take place next year from July 10-13. See who will be performing. In other music news, a Sabrina Carpenter pop-up shop is coming to Chicago this weekend and the city is rumored to be paying a DJ $20,000 to play at a Red Line station?
Milk Bar x Portillos: We told you last week that Chicago is slated to get its first Milk Bar location later this fall. In the meantime, they made some headlines this week by announcing a limited-time Milk Bar x Portillo’s Chocolate Cake Cookie collab that is now available at Portillo’s restaurants nationwide. Speaking of Portillo’s here is a great pro tip for their Chopped Salad.
Alinea x Wieners Circle: Speaking of collaborations with popular Chicago hot dog restaurants, you know that Wieners Circle wasn’t going to let Portillo’s win without a fight. It appears that two iconic Chicago brands may be coming together for the most unlikely of partnerships as acclaimed Alinea chef Grant Achatz hinted on Instagram that he may be partnering with The Wieners Circle.
