Chicago News of the Week

  • Chicago Air Taxis: Well if you needed any indication that the future is here, look no further than the new partnership between United Airlines and Archer Aviation. The two are teaming up to offer air tax service between O'Hare Airport and West Loop starting in 2025. Watch the video and learn all about it!

  • New Steakhouse: Chicago is known as one of the best cities to get a good steak, and as the expression goes, it looks like the rich are getting richer. One of the best steakhouses in the world announced they are opening a new flagship location in Chicago in 2024! It will be located at 500 N. LaSalle Street in River North in the giant LaSalle Street Cable Car Powerhouse building. Get all the details!

  • Lady May: A new southern coastal restaurant and cocktail parlor just opened in Chicago last week! It has an amazing location tucked in a pedestrian walkway right off Michigan Ave between the Wrigley Building and Trump Tower. Check it out!

  • Best Pie in Illinois: The review website Yelp released their rankings of the best pies by state. According to them, the best pie in Illinois can be found at a Chicago bakery that we recently visited. See what spot took home the first place ranking.

  • Buddy the Elf: Chicago's beloved Buddy the Elf, who you have likely seen us post about on our page before, is currently in the hospital due to a complication in his throat. He has had to have multiple surgeries already and could use some support. His sisters have set up a gofundme if you wish to donate. He's an awesome guy and brings so much joy to Chicagoans during the holiday season!

Sushi by Scratch

Sushi by Scratch: Chicago's hottest new omakase speakeasy is hidden in the basement of The Drop In, a bar in West Town (formerly the Swill Inn). This 17-course experience is one of the most amazing dining experiences you will find in Chicago. We just went and it was absolutely incredible! It's not difficult to see why the California location has a Michelin Star nor will it be surprising when this location eventually gets one as well.

It's so good in fact that it's pretty difficult to just get a reservation. The good news though is that they open reservations on the first of each month. This Saturday, April 1 they will be releasing their reservation slots for May (not sure what time they drop though). And if the current availability calendar is any indication, these reservations are going to go incredibly quickly considering there is nothing currently available.

As you would imagine, it's going to be an expensive meal. However, if you enjoy fine-dining experiences and have a special occasion coming up, mark your calendars so you can try to get a reservation to Sushi by Scratch!
