Chicago News

  • United Center: The United Center owners this week announced a $7 billion transformation coming to Chicago’s West Side. It’s being called The 1901 Project, and it will repurpose 55 acres of land surrounding the United Center. The project is being privately funded, and it is expected to kick off with phase one construction in spring of 2025. Check out this video that shows what it could look like and see what people are saying about it on our post.

  • Keith Lee: One of the world’s most influential food reviewers is back in Chicago this week for another food tour. Keith Lee has already stopped by and reviewed Amici-Chicago and Tacotlan. After trying Amici, Keith Lee came back into the restaurant and left $3,000 for anybody who comes in to order food and an additional $1,000 as a tip for the staff. His Chicago food tour is just beginning, and we are interested to see where he goes next!

  • Southwest Airlines: In a surprise move this morning, Southwest Airlines has announced that it will be ending its open seating policy, early next year, that the company has become known for. The airline will now assign seats and begin to offer premium seating options as well with extra leg room. Midway Airport in Chicago is the carrier’s third biggest hub. Learn more about this big change.

  • Wrigley Rooftops: Chicago’s city council has approved the tear down of three of the iconic Wrigley Rooftops that sit on Sheffield behind the right field bleachers. A five-story apartment building with 29 units and two rooftop pickleball courts will be going in its place. See which buildings are being torn down and the renderings for the new apartment complex going in its place by checking out the full story.

  • Wienermobile: Earlier this week, one of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles crashed and flipped on its side while driving on Interstate 294 in Chicago. It wasn’t the wurst-case (get it?) scenario though as no injuries were reported. You can see photos and a video from the crash.
