Good morning! Happy National Almond Day! Here is a fun fact about almonds that you might not have known: we couldn't have almonds without bees! Yes, literal honey bees are responsible for almond crop pollination. No bees, no almonds. Many almond growers need to rent bees in order to pollinate their crops, which can actually be quite expensive!

Chicago's Best Burgers

Chicago does a lot of things well and burgers certainly sit towards the top of the list. It's easy to take for granted the pure volume of amazing burgers that we have to choose from living here. And while we haven't tried all of them yet, we hope to eventually!

After doing some research, we wanted to put together a list of 10 Chicago burgers that are widely considered among the best that the city has to offer. We did our best to put them in order, but that is obviously up for debate. If you find yourself enjoying a burger at one of these 10 places, there's a good chance you are having a good time:

  • 1. Au Cheval

  • 2. Little Bad Wolf

  • 3. Mott St.

  • 4. Gretel

  • 5. Red Hot Ranch

  • 6. The Loyalist

  • 7. Small Cheval

  • 8. Izakaya at Momotaro

  • 9. Owen and Engine

  • 10. The Leavitt Street Inn & Tavern

Reply to this email with your choice for Chicago's best burger. And no, it does not have to be on the above list. It certainly can be though!

Snow Plow Name Winners

ICYMI, the City of Chicago's Department of Streets and Sanitation hosted a contest this winter where Chicagoans could name the city's snow plows. We posted about it when the contest was happening, so we wanted to follow up with the winning names that were chosen from all the submissions. It hasn't really snowed much this winter yet, so who knows if the snow plows will actually get put to use. Here are the ones to lookout for if they do:

  • Mrs. O’Leary’s Plow

  • Da Plow

  • Salter Payton

  • Sears Plower

  • Sleet Home Chicago

  • Holy Plow!

  • Jean Baptiste Point du Shovel
