Best Big City: For a record-breaking eighth year in a row, Chicago has been voted the best big city in the United States by Condé Nast Traveler. The award is given annually as part of their Reader’s Choice Awards where they survey over half a million people in different categories. See their list of the 10 best small cities in the U.S. followed by the 10 best big cities. Read the comments of our post to see peoples’ reactions to Chicago winning first place.
Milk Bar: The iconic Milk Bar from famous baker Christina Tosi in New York City will soon be coming to Chicago! They will be teaming up with the Boka Restaurant Group to open their first Chicago location in Fulton Market.
October Events: Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that Chicago’s fun, and free, street festivals are ending! There are so many awesome celebrations happening in October including two of our favorite: Open House Chicago and Haunted Halsted! See our video highlighting five of our favorite events happening this month.
Apple Fest: Speaking of great October events in Chicago, Apple Fest takes place this weekend (Oct. 5 & 6) in Lincoln Square on Lincoln Avenue between Lawrence and Sunnyside. The free festival ($5 suggested donation) is a long-standing tradition that celebrates the beginning of autumn with food and beverage vendors, shops, fresh produce from farmers, entertainment and lots of apples.
Chicago Fashion Week: The first ever Chicago Fashion Week is set to debut next Wednesday, Oct. 9 with 50 events “celebrating the city’s renaissance era” and will run through Oct. 20. Check out Choose Chicago’s Fashion Week Guide.
