Top 5: Chicago News to Know
DraftKings Sportsbook: You have probably seen it being built for a while now, but the brand new DraftKings Sportsbook, restaurant and bar connected to Wrigley Field is finally set to open to the public on June 27. DraftKings is still in the process of getting their gaming license with the Illinois Gaming Board, but once they do people will be able to place sports bets just like in Las Vegas. Take a look inside.
Mosquito Problem: Hate mosquitos? Us too. Unfortunately Chicago ranks near the very top of worst cities in the country for mosquitos taking the #2 overall spot. See the city rankings. When you add in the fact that the number of “mosquito days” are increasing each year and that four different Illinois counties have already detected West Nile Virus this year, it’s looking like Chicago has a mosquito problem.
John’s Pizzeria: In just over one week, one of Chicago’s oldest pizza restaurants, known for their tavern-style pizza, will be closing their doors for good. John’s Pizzeria, which sits on the edge of Logan Square and Bucktown, announced that after nearly 70 years, their last day of service will be June 30. See what a large pizza cost in 1957 when they first opened.
Blackhawks Draft Party: For only the second time in the history of the Chicago Blackhawks, they have the first overall pick in the NHL draft! And if you missed it, it's a great year to have the first pick (which we discussed in a past newsletter). The Blackhawks are holding a big draft party at the Salt Shed on June 28. Claim your free ticket to it.
Pedestrian Roads: If you could turn any one road in Chicago into a pedestrian/bike only street, which would you choose? Someone evaluated the options and came up with six ideas. See which streets were chosen.
